Successful Launch of the LeidenGlobal Photo Exhibition
On June 6th the LeidenGlobal photo exhibition “Heritage on the Move” is officially launched by Prof. dr. Mark Rutgers, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities (Leiden University) and Chairman of the LeidenGlobal General Board at the LeidenGlobal event at Museum Volkenkunde.
Before the exhibition officially launched, the scholars of the LeidenGlobal partners who provided the photographs explained one by one their contribution and its connection with “Heritage on the Move”. Together with their speeches and speeches of Prof. dr. Gert Oostindie on LeidenGlobal and Prof. dr. Mirjam de Bruijn on Heritage on the Move in combination with the project Voice4Thought, the afternoon became a big success. Due to some circumstances the original programme with the annual LeidenGlobal keynote had to be changed, nevertheless this changed programme added a nice extra dimension to the exhibition.
After the speeches, Mark Rutgers instructed the public to go ‘On de Move’ down the stairs of Museum Volkenkunde to see the actual exhibition exposed at the museum cafe. From Volkenkunde the photo exhibition immediately goes ‘On the Move’ itself. The first stop will be at faculty of Archaeology (Van Steenis Building), where it will be opened during the Centre for Digital Heritage Meeting 2017 and will be shown there until July 6th.
At the Launch, Mark Rutgers also announced the digital photo exhibition, which can be seen here
