LeidenGlobal Annual Event 2018
The Annual LeidenGlobal Event 2018 took place on 29 May and consisted of a Graduate Workshop and Keynote Speech by Prof. dr. Wayne Modest. The day was marked by the LeidenGlobal theme Heritage on the Move and it was the final lecture within the Heritage on the Move lecture series organised together with BplusC Leiden.
The afternoon started with a talk by Prof. dr. Wayne Modest entitled: 'We Have Always Been Mobile: A Non-Sedentarist Approach to Heritage'. After this, about 20 PhD and ResMA students were divided into groups and together with the moderators, Prof. Gert Oostindie, Dr. Fan Lin and Dr. Elena Burgos Martinez, the students critically analysed the readings and discussed their own research.
Hereafter the group shifted towards the Volkenkunde Museum for the Keynote Lecture by Prof. Modest. In the presence of about 60 attendees and moderator Prof. Gert Oostindie (director KITLV and chairman of LeidenGlobal), Prof. Modest held his Keynote 'On The Move: A Mobilities Approach to Heritage'. The day was successfully concluded with drinks at the Museum Café.
