Looking back: LeidenGlobal Activities in May & June 2018

On 29 May 2018 the Annual LeidenGlobal event took place, consisting of a Graduate Workshop (at Leiden University) and Keynote Speech (at Museum Volkenkunde) by Prof. dr. Wayne Modest. The day was marked by the LeidenGlobal theme Heritage on the Move. This Keynote was also the final lecture within the ‘Heritage on the Move’ Spring lecture series organised together with BplusC Leiden

The afternoon started with a talk by Prof. dr. Wayne Modest entitled: 'We Have Always Been Mobile: A Non-Sedentarist Approach to Heritage'. Thereafter 20 PhD and ResMA students were divided into groups and together with moderators, Prof. Gert Oostindie, Dr. Fan Lin and Dr. Elena Burgos Martinez, the students critically analysed the readings and discussed their own research.

Afterwards the group shifted towards the Volkenkunde Museum for the Keynote Lecture by Prof. Modest. In the presence of about 60 attendees and moderator Prof. Gert Oostindie (director KITLV and chairman of LeidenGlobal), Prof. Modest held his Keynote 'On The Move: A Mobilities Approach to Heritage'. The day was successfully concluded with drinks at the Museum Café.

A few weeks later, on Friday 22nd, LeidenGlobal returned to Museum Volkenkunde to exhibit part of the LeidenGlobal photo exhibition during the annual KITLV member meeting.
