To mark the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on May 21, LeidenGlobal organises the World Week for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue & Development from 19-29 May 2026.
Proclaimed by UNESCO, this international day highlights the power of cultural diversity in building stronger, more inclusive societies. Cultural diversity helps bringing people together. By encouraging dialogue and understanding between cultures, we can build stronger connections, reduce divisions, and create more inclusive communities. Throughout the week, we celebrate the richness of the world's cultures while acknowledging the crucial role of intercultural dialogue through several initiatives. Cultural diversity is more than a source of inspiration, it is essential for peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

Wereldweek voor Culturele Diversiteit voor Dialoog en Ontwikkeling
Ter gelegenheid van de Werelddag voor Culturele Diversiteit voor Dialoog en Ontwikkeling op 21 mei organiseert LeidenGlobal van 19 tot en met 29 mei 2026 de Wereldweek voor Culturele Diversiteit voor Dialoog en Ontwikkeling.
Deze internationale dag, uitgeroepen door UNESCO, benadrukt de kracht van culturele diversiteit bij het opbouwen van sterkere en meer inclusieve samenlevingen. Culturele diversiteit helpt mensen samen te brengen. Door dialoog en begrip tussen culturen te stimuleren, kunnen we sterkere verbindingen opbouwen, tegenstellingen verkleinen en meer inclusieve gemeenschappen creëren. Gedurende de week besteden we aandacht aan de rijkdom van de culturen van de wereld, met een nadruk op het belang van interculturele dialoog, via verschillende initiatieven. Culturele diversiteit is meer dan een bron van inspiratie; zij is essentieel voor vrede, sociale samenhang en duurzame ontwikkeling.
